Thinking about getting Invisalign braces, you’re going to have a lot of questions for your orthodontist. One of those questions is likely to be can you kiss with Invisalign braces? Since most people are nervous when they’re dating a new boyfriend or girlfriend without braces, it’s understandable that you’re going to be worried about kissing with braces on your teeth!
But, relax — kissing with Invisalign braces is perfectly fine. One of the big advantages of wearing Invisalign braces is that they’re much more discreet than wearing traditional metal braces. And, you don’t have to worry about lips and tongues getting caught on all those metal attachments.
When you first start wearing your aligners and are still getting used to them, you may feel self-conscious, especially if you’re dating someone new. Therefore, you may be tempted to take your aligners out when you go on a date. Although this may seem like a good option at the time, you really should only be removing your trays for eating, brushing, and flossing. The longer you keep them out, the longer your treatment time. And, if your Invisalign braces use buttons, they can be sharp which could be a bit of an unpleasant surprise for your unsuspecting partner!
What about if you’re getting married? Even though the trays need to be worn 20 to 22 hours a day, they won’t be an interference. The great thing about Invisalign is you can take the aligners out for important occasions. So on the most important day of your life, feel free to relax and enjoy it!
They might not even know you’re wearing them
Most people never experience any issues when kissing with Invisalign braces in because Invisalign aligners are smooth and are designed to fit tightly to your teeth. They don’t move, so they won’t dislodge or affect your kissing.
And, because they’re clear, you shouldn’t be afraid of kissing because there’s a pretty good chance your partner won’t even notice your aligners. Besides, if you’re kissing your significant other, they’re already aware of the fact that you’re wearing Invisalign braces. However, if you’re dating someone new, it may be a good idea to be upfront about wearing aligners so that you can relax and enjoy the rest of your time together.
Try taking things slow at first; this will help you get used to the sensation of kissing while wearing your aligners.
Once you’re used to wearing Invisalign braces, stop worrying about kissing your partner, relax, and enjoy your time together.
